Welcome as a Volunteer!

We are delighted to have you onboard. We hope you have a rewarding experience volunteering with Save the Children and using Spond! 🙂

Spond as a Part of the Save the Children Volunteer Experience

Spond is a tool that makes it easy to organize activities, stay in touch with your group, and keep track of everything from registrations to announcements. This document provides a quick introduction to help you get started, along with some usage guidelines.

Spond is Used For:

Receive important announcements and send messages to your group.

You will receive invitations to activities, meetings, events, and more. You can easily register your attendance or decline if you are unable to participate.

Access group updates and documents relevant to your volunteer work, and receive reminders directly in the app.

How to Join your Spond Group

Once you have completed your training and met other volunteer requirements, you will receive an invitation link to your Spond group and the website where this guide is located.

If you do not already have the app, download Spond from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).

Create an account in Spond by signing up with your phone number (note: Spond only supports Norwegian phone numbers). If you already have an account, disregard this step.

It is important that you set up 2FV on your new account, or enable it in your existing Spond account settings, and ensure you are using a strong, secure password.

The group code consists of the last five characters of the invitation link you received.

Make sure push notifications are enabled for events and mentions (@), to make sure that you don’t miss out on important messages and updates.

Please contact your regional advisor, and they will help you accessing your group through the Spond website or by email.

Having Trouble with the App?

If you are having issues with downloading the app, please ask your volunteer group leader or your Save the Children contact person/regional advisor for help.

If you know you have been invited but cannot see the group after logging in, please check with the administrator to ensure you were added using the same contact information you used when registering.

Guidelines for Using Spond as a Volunteer

Please respond to invitations as soon as possible by confirming or declining your attendance. You must select “Attending” to confirm. If your availability changes, remember to update your response and notify the person responsible for the activity.

Ask questions, share information, and stay connected by responding to messages within the group.

Check the app regularly for news, updates and upcoming activities.

All volunteers and staff are expected to communicate respectfully and maintain a positive and supportive tone.

Sensitive information about participants, other volunteers, or incidents that occur during activities must not be shared in Spond or included in uploaded files. If confidential matters need to be addressed, please contact your regional advisor directly.

Adding a profile photo helps group members recognize you when meeting in person.
